Thanks Paul.

I've been reading up on XP2 but I could only find the Kodak equivalent in town. This stuff still has an orange mask like film so some of the negative have a colour cast.

The Ilford film is supposed to much greater latitude than 'normal' b&w so you can push and pull the ISO. I think I shot this roll at 400 but I'm going to pull the next roll so I can use a wider aperture.

Actually, I really need to finish this film so that I can try and replace all the light seals and the shutter cushion thingy.

Really liking these.

Try Ilford XP2 if you want strong contrast, plus it is C41 processing too if you want to be lazy like me

I got a good deal on a Panasonic GF1. It's like a cross between a compact and DSLR. It's the video mode I'm mostly interested in as I fancy trying something new (I haven't got a clue where to start though).

It uses a Micro Four Thirds mount but I am going to get an adapter so I can use my Nikon lenses as well. Actually, these cameras have become really popular as a way to uses old rangefinder lenses (Leica, Voigtländer etc.) on a digital body.

The sensor has a 2x crop which is not so good for stills (I tend to prefer standard and wide angles over telephoto) but for video it makes it much easier to increase my range. This extra reach should also make filming the birds a bit easier as the camera won't need to be so close. I think I'm going to try uploading some raw video soon.

Amazing! I'm saving up for a Canon 7D (hopefully later this year) and I'm just as excited about the video side of things as the stills.

Glad to be of service, nice bit of convergence there.

The Mananuska is the one made from Beeswax impregnated cotton yeah? I am intrigued to see how well it will perform in the real world.
